    Description

    DESCRIPTION:
    This auction is for a lovely antique bisque head German doll with walker body, 1912+. This doll has a few "imperfections" I will try to describe.  Incised on the back of her head is "ABG 1362, Made in Germany, 3-1/2".  Reference tells me she was made by Alt Beck Gottshalck and mold "1362" is referred to as "SWEET NELL".  Measures just under 26" tall she is a bisque socket head on jointed composition doll body,  body is strung and jointed at the shoulders, elbows, and wrists with the little finger "missing" on her right hand, there is a finger "missing" on her left hand as well, you may wish a little restore to your liking.  This doll has a "WALKER" body, that is when her legs move her head turns, there are metal works in her upper legs that go up through her body. There are no joints at the knees so her knees do not bend. I do not know her past history, and or if she is all original, I am selling her as I purchased her. She has overall wear, scuffs and paint loss throughout her body for being 100 or so years old.  A "sweet" expression on her face with open and close blue glass sleepy eyes that work fine, retains upper hair lashes, painted lashes around the eyes, she has brown brush stroked eye brows, open mouth with upper teeth and beautiful blushed cheeks.  I flashed her head inside and do not see any hairlines or cracks, there is a piece of wood across the top inside of her head, possibly for a voice box at one time.  I notice a few small wig pulls on her upper forehead area.  She has pierced ears but is not wearing earrings. Her brunette mohair wig is very old and charming with hair going through the inside through the pate, it is glued on that pate and slips nicely over her head. A worn ribbon on the side of her wig I did not remove. "Nell" wears a print dress with lace trim that snaps down the back, possibly vintage but not antique,she wears pantaloons, stockings and shoes.
